Scott Craig (who can’t be trusted with two first names), a Bank of America analyst, is predicting that the 3G iPhone will be a reality by this summer. He also predicts Apple will “produce as many as 8 million of the 3G iPhones in the third quarter.” While this is good news for many who have avoided the first generation device I’m looking back and not finding a lot of downfalls that caused many to hesitate. Apple has been well known to suffer through several kinks in their first gen releases causing many to wait it out until the problems are fixed and a shiny new second generation is released.

While that has been the case several times it just doesn’t seem to be this time around. Good things supposedly come to those who wait, and yeah the price did dramatically drop $200 a few months after the initial release but since then there hasn’t been recalls or dramatic changes to the device to have warranted the hesitation. I’m thinking if the next generation phone does come out it would be right in time for that $600 IRS stimulus check to show up in my savings account.
