WGA strike update
Posted by Jason D. under Industry News, Movies
Thankfully the Broadway strike ended after two-and-a-half weeks. According to the New York Times this strike cost the industry of $40 million as well as putting hundreds out to the picket lines of New York.
Those in the Hollywood and the WGA haven’t been as lucky unless you happen to work for one of the late-night personalities. Conan was first, then followed Kimmel, Letterman, Ferguson and now Leno has changed his tune and joined the rest of the group. I’ve got only bad news in regards to Carson ‘I’m a Tool’ Daly who will be defying the strike in the coming week. For everyone else in Hollywood the future is looking grim. Renewed negotiations have brought no good news for either side. The digital dilemma has still kept the two sides from reaching an agreement. We can all look forward to more and more reality TV to show up in the upcoming months. Blockbuster rejoices as I’m sure DVD rentals will increase as people search for new outlets of entertainment. I will be one of them as well as enjoying the masses headed to the theaters to see the Award Caliber films that December brings us. I’m looking forward to Atonement which opens in limited release this Friday.
