Welcoming the Queen to YouTube

At age 81, Queen Elizabeth II is contunuing to embrace new forms of communication and technology. The queen will be using YouTube to send out her 50th annual Christmas message. She has been delivering the message to England and its colonies since 1957.
The move comes on the launch of a ‘Royal Channel’ on the video sharing site which will feature archived footage of the queen and other royals. In a statement from Buckingham Palace the queen’s eagerness to embrace new technologies was mentioned as the palace stated “the Christmas message was podcast last year. She has always been aware of reaching more people and adapting the communication to suit. This will make the Christmas message more accessible to younger people and those in other countries.”
