Forrester recently released a report discussing the issues that enterprise IT departments are facing with the iPhone. Many IT departments are wondering if they should be going through the trouble of supporting the device. Forrester compiled a top-10 list of reasons why IT departments should not support the device (i.e. corp security, lack of Exchange support). However, they point out that big execs want to have the slick phone and are buying them with the expectation of receiving support. Thus, regardless of its appropriateness for the enterprise world, the iPhone is and will continue to infiltrate corporations and IT should be ready to handle them.
Also, if the next generation has 3G support, Exchange integration, etc., IT will have a significantly harder time pushing back on accepting the phone.
