Whose ‘House’?

If it wasn’t already hard enough to figure out… Further confusing the subject, a few NBC shows have appeared on iTunes despite NBC/Universal claiming they would not continue partnering with Apple after talks ended over a month ago. At the heart of the standoff was pricing control and only NBC/Universal was getting their hands dirty. CBS, Fox and naturally ABC were mum on the situation. The confusion comes when you actually check out the iTunes store and find some of NBC’s new shows ready for consumption but can’t find last week’s episode of ‘House’ which appears on Fox. Well, as luck would have it shows such as ‘Chuck’ and ‘Journeyman’ are not produced by NBC whereas the faithful following of Dr. House who find him on Fox will be confused to not find him available anytime soon on iTunes. See, it’s not the distributor that matters but your producer.
NBC/Universal doesn’t seem to mind, the confusion could lead to a higher interest in hulu.com the joint venture with News Corp. which begins beta testing soon. You’ll be able to find shows from both companies even ones airing on FX, but what you still won’t find is ‘House’.
