Tuesday’s New Releases

Since my idea of posting news-worthy stories every Friday went right out the window I am going to try something else. Tuesday’s are when new DVD/CD releases take place and Friday is generally new Films. So, on those days I’ll just let you know what you should be buying or seeing.
 Tuesday 8/28:

Not one but three iPhone hacks.

My info was from early sources that were wrong.  There were three iPhone hacks:
1) As mentioned before, the 17-yr old guy who hacked it through hardware modifications
2) The software-only hack done by iPhoneSIMfree.com
3) And finally a software-only hack by www.iphoneunlocking.com
Strange that they’d all come out the same week.

tMoPhone

Well that didn’t take too long. A team at iphonesimfree.com has unlocked the iPhone and proven it is usable on the T-Mobile network in the US. This will be especially good news to all those folks in Europe and Asia who have been wanting iPhones but have been unable to get them. [...]

Money makes the world go ’round.

Like a fine wine this story has gotten better with age. Undisclosed sources cited today claim that the reason Paramount and DreamWorks Animation have dropped support of Blu-Ray is a large chunk of change. $50mil will go to Par and a sizeable $100mil to convince Katzenberg at DWA.

The only one not convinced is Steven Spielberg [...]

The battle is far from over.

As we mentioned earlier Microsoft is expecting big numbers for ‘Halo 3′
when it hits shelves on September 25. Just how big you ask? How about
the biggest opening* of any media product in the history of consumable
media? The previous record holder belongs to this year’s ‘Spider-Man 3′
which brought in $151mil over its opening weekend and $59.84mil [...]

An unlikely duo..

Well if this isn’t technology and entertainment…Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple, is now dating comedian Kathy Griffin. They met after Woz attended one of her shows. I wonder if he’ll buy her an iPhone for Christmas.

The Legendary Summer of 1982

Three great events happened in the summer of 1982.
First of all, I was born. That was sweet.
Second, Philips first created the 8cm plastic disc of joy we’ve come to know and love, and sink a rediculous amount of our youthful enarings into, the Compact Disc.
And lastly, and completely unrelated, Calvin Klein made their first [...]

Stewart/Colbert ‘08

Listed third and fourth out of 32 people called to give depositions, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are set to give evidence in the YouTube lawsuit that Viacom filed last March. The duo’s programs once held some of the top spots on YouTube only to have their videos taken down after Viacom (parent Co. to Comedy [...]

Who is Merv Griffin?

One of the biggest names in television has lost his battle with prostate cancer. Merv Giffin was the man behind “Jeopardy!” and “Wheel of Fortune”. Not only were both shows his brainchild that catchy ‘Jeopardy!” theme was also created by the multitalented tycoon. Griffin was a composer and band leader, a game-show creator, talk show [...]

With the delay of Take-Two’s highly anticipated new game ‘Grand Theft Auto IV’ the Xbox and the Wii are set to take center stage this holiday season. Citing “technological problems” the game under whelmed at the E3 Convention last month and has been put on hold until early 2008.
